On April 19th in Tijuana, Mexico, hometown favorite Jackie “La Princesa Azteca” Nava (28-4-3, 12 KOs) will battle Alys “La China” Sanchez (12-1-1, 4 KOs) of Venezuela for the interim WBA female super-bantamweight title. Nava, a former multiple time world champion (WBC super-bantamweight, WBA super-bantamweight, and WBA bantamweight), due to child-birth, has been inactive since besting Lisa “Bad News” Brown (TKO-3) in August, 2012.
Nava, who will become 35 by fight time, is best known for her two epic battles with Mexican boxing star, Ana Maria Torres (D-10, L-10) in 2011.
The 27-year-old Sánchez, a former interim WBA female super-bantamweight title holder, is coming off a split-decision loss to Carolina Arias (SD-8) in October accounting for her only activity in 2013.
