Samson Tor Buamas defends WIBA minimumweight belt.

On May 2 at Central Stadium, Ratchaburi, Thailand, WIBA minimumweight champion Samson Tor Buamas (33-3, 15 KOs) successfully defended her title with a sixth round technical knockout of Ellenor Maria of Sweden who was making her professional début. This defense isn’t an outlier; Tor Buamas has made many defenses of her title against fighters making their professional début. In July 2013, America Alexis Mary Asher probably got the better of the action only to receive the short end of a dubious hometown decision. Women’s boxing, in some parts of the world, is an unregulated mess that resembles the Wild West of the United States in the 1800s.
