On June 21 at the Hard Rock Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the former IBF female featherweight champion, Dahiana Santana (33-6, 14 KOs) receives a crack at the interim WBA female featherweight title when she faces Francia Elena Bravo (16-3-2, 9 KOs). Santana, stylistically a boxer-puncher, and fights out of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, is one of the better punchers at featherweight. She stands a good probability of producing a knockout victory against Bravo, who has suffered three stoppage losses, her most recent came in 2008 at the fists of Yesica Yoland Bopp (TKO-4). The loss to Bopp, until she steps into the ring with Santana, represents Bravo’s only foray into A-level opposition. In 2013, Bravo of Cerete, Colombia, registered five wins each coming against very ordinary competition which in no way prepared her for the firepower of Santana. The regular WBA female featherweight champion is Edith Matthysse (12-6-1, 1 KO), the sister of high profile light welterweight, Lucas Matthysse.
