Women’s Boxing 8-9-14

Tonight, Victoria Argueta (left) hopes to successfully defend her IBF female minimumweight title (105 lbs.) with a win over upstart Alondra Garcia (9-1, 1 KO). Argueta has pounded out a record of (12-1, 4 KOs) and won the IBF strap with a win over Nancy Franco in May. Her lone loss was a one-sided, ten-round decision loss to pound-for-pound ranked Naoko Fujioka. Garcia, who turned professional in 2012, has yet to defeat a fighter with a winning record.

Tonight, former pound-for-pound élite banger Esmeralda Moreno (right) attempts to resurrect her career with a win over Linda Contreras in the light-flyweight division. Moreno (27-7-1, 9 KOs) has struggled (2-1-1) since returning to the ring in November 2013 after taking a year off for childbirth.

Both fights are on an under card promoted by Canelo Promotions.
