Kentikian UD-10 Fujioka; Retains WBA Title


On November 8 in Stuttgart, Germany, Susi “Killer Queen” Kentikian defended her WBA World female flyweight title for the fourth time with a tightly contested ten-round unanimous decision over challenger Naoko Fujioka by the scores 96-94, 97-93, and 97-94. Kentikian, now in the prime of her career at 27, improved to (34-2, 17 KOs). Fujioka engaged in battle for the first time outside the friendly confines of her home country of Japan, dropped to (12-1, 6 KOs). Fujioka, previously held legitimate world titles at minimumweight and super-flyweight, was seeking a world title in her third weight class. Kentikian, earlier in her career enjoyed a nearly 6-year reign as the WBA flyweight champion (13 defenses) before dropping the strap to American Carina Moreno in late 2012.
