Nava retains Super-Bantamweight Title

In Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, Tijuana’s Jackie “La Princesa Azteca” Nava, 122, won a ten-round unanimous decision over challenger Sayda Mosquera, 120 ½, by the closer than expected scores of (97-93/97-93/98-92) to retain her WBC & WBA World female super bantamweight titles. With the victory, Nava improves to (31-4-3, 13 KOs) and makes a strong statement for “Comeback Fighter of the Year” honors as it was her third victory in three starts in 2014. Nava returned to the ring in May after a two-year hiatus due to childbirth. Mosquera of Darien, Panama, drops to (7-1-1, 5 KOs) but showed well in her first world title contest considering she frequently campaigns as a bantamweight.
