Santa Fe, Argentina: On April 3 Victoria Noelia Bustos, 135 ¼, Santa Fe, the IBF World female lightweight champion, in a non-title fight defeated the IBF World female super-featherweight champion “La Terrible” Betiana Patricia Vinas ,135 1/4, of Mendoza, Argentina, by a closely-contested, eight-round unanimous decision. Each judge favored Bustos (79-77 x 3) allowing her to improve her record to an outstanding (13-3). With the loss, Vinas stays busy but drops to (10-6-3, 2 KOs).
Osaka, Japan: On April 3 former supermodel Tamao Ozawa, 115, of Kyoto, Japan, won the vacant OPBF female super-flyweight title with an eight-round, split-decision victory over Terumi Nuki, 114, Osaka, by the closer-than-close scores of (77-75, 77-76, and 76-77).
Twin River Event Center, Lincoln, Rhode Island: On April 3 Shelly Vincent, 122, Providence, improved to (14-0, 1 KO) with a ten-round unanimous decision (98-92, 97-93, and 97-93) over a tough Texan brawler named Christina Ruiz, 121 ½, who falls to (7-8-3, 3 KOs). With the win, Vincent retains the UBF super-bantamweight belt and adds the vacant IBA super-bantamweight strap. Vincent displayed her usual deft boxing ability working in and out and up and down on her aggressive opponent.
