On August 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Heather “The Heat” Hardy (13-0, 2 KOs) will get a second crack at “The Hardcore” Renata Domsodi (12-6, 5 KOs) of Budapest, Hungary. In April, Brooklyn’s favorite fighter (Hardy) was on her way to a stoppage victory when an eye injury to Domsodi from an accidental head butt ended the contest in the third round causing the bout to be ruled a “No Contest.”
The 40-year-old Domsodi had no answers for the aggressive two-fisted attack of Hardy, 33, and was absorbing serious punishment before the bout was prematurely halted. Domsodi has scaled between 114 ¾ and 128 ¼ during her four-year career is likely best suited at the bantamweight limit of 118 pounds as she once held the WBF International, UBO International, and Hungary female bantamweight titles. She’s (0-2; 1-NC) since winning the minor titles losing to Eva Voraberger (SD-10) and Mexican slugger, Zulina Munoz (TKO-6).
Hardy, on May 29 won an eight-round, split-decision over Noemi Bosques on the undercard of Amir Khan’s win over Chris Algieri.
Look for Hardy to stop the outgunned Domsodi in the middle rounds.
