On November 11 in Zwevezele, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, Delfine Persoon (33-1, 16 KOs) will defend her WBC World female lightweight title for the third time against French power-puncher Maiva Hamadouche (8-0, 7 KOs).
The 25-year-old Hamadouche currently holds the EBU lightweight title. She was extended to the ten-round distance for the first time in her last outing (March 2015) defeating Anita Torti (UD-10) of Italy. Hamadouche is ranked #6 at lightweight by the WBC and #8 in the same weight class by boxrec. Of her previous eight opponents, only three boasted winning records.
Persoon, 30, is (2-0, 2 KOs) in 2015 requiring seventeen rounds to dispense with Nicole Boss (13-5-2) and Florence Muthoni (11-5-2). Persoon led by wide margins on the scorecards in both bouts.
On September 26 in Gits, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, Persoon will take a tune-up bout against Jane Kavulani (16-13-2, 6 KOs) of Kenya. Kavulani is durable having never been stopped in any of her thirteen losses, but is a C-level fighter and shouldn’t provide much more than a workout for Persoon.
Anita Torti is the most thought of common opponent. Persoon retained her WIBF World lightweight title in January 2013 by pounding Torti over ten-rounds 2013 losing all but one round on the three scorecards. Hamadouche has defeated Torti twice (UD-10) (TKO-5).
