On April 23, in a co-main event, hometown favorite Mikaela Lauren, 148 ¾, successfully defended the WBC World female super-welterweight title for the third time with a three-round pounding of former welterweight champion, Ivana Habazin, 146 ½, of Zagreb, Croatia. Since winning the title in November 2014 with a majority-decision victory over Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes (MD-10), Lauren has scored a stoppage victory in all four of her ensuing bouts; three of which were title defenses. With the win, Lauren improves to an impressive (27-3, 12 KOs) whereas Habazin suffers her first stoppage loss and drops to (15-3, 6 KOs). Habazin held the IBF welterweight title briefly in 2014.
On the undercard fellow Swede Klara Svensson, Malmo, won an eight-round unanimous decision (79-73, 79-73, 80-72) over Italian Lucia Morelli. This fight was the second between the two fighters; Svensson defeated Morelli (UD-10) in a defense of her interim WBC World female super-lightweight title in November 2014. Svensson improves to (16-1, 5 KOs) with the win and Morelli drops to (19-6, 9 KOs) with the loss.
The card also contained two four-round female bouts witnessing Karina Kopinska (6-10-3) win a split-decision over Angelique Hernandez (1-1) and Patricia Berghult (2-0) unanimously topple Katarina Vistica (0-2).
