Bang-Bang Hawton wins WBO Light-Flyweight Title

Louisa “Bang-Bang” Hawton, 106 ¾, Perth, Australia, captured the vacant WBO World female light-flyweight title with a ten-round unanimous decision over Japan’s Kei Takenaka, 107 ½, by the scores 98-91, 96-93, and 97-92. The 31-year-old newly crowned champion improves to (7-0, 3 KOs) with the unanimous verdict whereas Takenaka, 30, a southpaw, drops to (11-1, 3 KOs). Takenaka formerly held the OPBF female light-flyweight title which is a stepping stone to the world stage.
