The WBA World female minimumweight champion, Anabel Ortiz, 108, stayed busy in a non-title affair besting Brenda Ramos, 108 ½, over ten rounds by the scores (97-93/97-93/99-91). Ortiz, a two-time minimumweight champion, has eight defenses of the WBA strap. She formerly held the WBC World female minimumweight title, winning the prestigious title in her seventh professional bout in October 2009. She held the title until May 2011 when she ran into Naoko Fujioka (TKO-8). With the win, Ortiz improves to (24-3, 4 KOs) running her current winning streak to 14, the longest such streak of her career. With the loss, Ramos drops to (9-5, 4 KOs) and has lost four of her last five fights. Ramos normally campaigns at light-flyweight and flyweight.
