Naoko Fujioka, 111, Osaki, Japan, won the WBA World female flyweight title by pounding out a tenth-round technical knockout of contender Isabel Millan, 111 ¼, Tonala, Mexico. At the time of the stoppage, Fujioka held a wide-margined lead on the scorecards (89-81/89-81/88-82). Millan suffered a knockdown in the second round. With the victory, the 41-year-old Fujioka improves to (16-2, 7 KOs) whereas her younger challenger, Millan, 32, drops to (18-3-1, 8 KOs). Fujioka also secures a world title in a fourth weight class having previously held the WBO bantamweight, WBA super-flyweight, and the WBC minimumweight world titles. In a post-fight interview, Fujioka will look to defend the flyweight strap once or twice and then seek a world title at light-flyweight.
