Ivana Habazin, 156 ¾, tossed her hat into the middleweight ring winning the vacant IBO World female middleweight title with a fifth-round, technical knockout of Elene Sikmashvili, 159 ¾. Habazin, who was unsuccessful in two previous attempts at world titles losing a lopsided decision to Cecilia Braekhus at welterweight and was stopped in three rounds by Mikaela Lauren at super-welter, improves to (18-3, 7 KOs). With the loss, Sikmashvili drops to (10-6, 5 KOs) and suffered her fifth stoppage loss in the process. Although she isn’t a serious threat to defeat Christina Hammer or Claressa Shields, Habazin’s lofty record will allow her to enter the ring as a legitimate opponent against either.
Top Five at Middleweight:
1- Christina Hammer / Claressa Shields
3- Kali Reis
4- Raquel Miller
5- Ivana Habazin
